Last year google inaugurated play awards at its I/O developer conference. Google announced the nominees back in April and now after this waiting they have revealed the second annual Play Awards winner apps across different categories. This year winners shine in performance, design and gentility. With more than 85 billion apps and games downloaded on Google Play over the past year, these were some of the experiences that captured our imagination. Congrats to this year’s winners!
Across 12 different categories, google shortlisted 57 apps as finalists and the winners include some familiar faces. Nominees were selected similar to the last year by cross-functional teams throughout Google who work hand-in-hand with the relevant categories and product areas. The set of criteria includes high user ratings, pass Google’s bars for technical performance, and have received an update or been launched since April of last year. Coming to the highlight of Google Play Awards 2017, the language learning app Memrise was the overall best app winner for its elegant design, instinctive interface and high user appeal.
